Why is the White House Launching
a PlameGate Offensive Now?
September 17, 2006
We thought that we would send along two must-read commentaries.
The first is by investigative journalist Robert Pary. It presents
a persuasive argument that Richard Armitage may have been far from
the “innocent” player in the Plame leak. In fact, Armitage had
a long-standing relationship to Rove. Furthermore, according to
none other than Bob Novak, Armitage summoned Novak out of nowhere
for that fateful meeting in which Valerie Plame's name and identity
was “dropped.”
Read it here at: http://www.consortiumnews.com/2006/091506.html
Then we are enclosing an article by David Corn, who broke the story
on why the infamous Bob Novak column that outed Valerie Plame might
have been a criminal offense. (BuzzFlash knows well about the Corn
piece in The Nation, because we immediately called him upon reading
it, interviewed him, and then helped move the story along at a
time that no one was interested in it.)
Corn points out that now one of the perennial “respectable” shills
for the White House, Victoria Toensing (who was part of a pro-Ken
Starr media tag team along with her husband -- during the attempted “impeachment” coup
launched against Bill Clinton) is now trying to blame Corn for
outing Plame!
This is all the more ironic, since Corn, who writes for the Nation,
has, if anything, bent over backwards to think the best of the
motives of the White House cabal who endangered our national security
by neutralizing a CIA operative who specialized in Weapons of Mass
Destruction. Corn even stood up for former Time reporter Victoria
Novak, who “inadvertently” provided Rove’s lawyer with information
that was probably the key to Rove not be indicted for perjury.
(Time Magazine was not so forgiving. They showed her the door for
not informing them of the “lapse.”)
Here is Corn’s column about the latest twisted GOP counterattack
to defend their betrayal of America by blaming it on the person
who called them on it in the first place:

All of this recent diversionary
media activity on PlameGate, at a time when the issue was lying
low during the pre-election period, makes one wonder if the Busheviks
are pre-empting another shoe dropping that will confirm a wide
White House conspiracy to out Plame and confirm it, legally
or otherwise, before the election.
Stay tuned.
