Libby Trial to be Delayed Even Further?
Libby's defense lawyer is asking that the trial of one of the
numerous Bush/Cheney leakers (who are, however, never condemned
by the White House for leaking) be
delayed even further.
That's right, the defense lawyer for Scooter Libby is asking
the presiding federal judge to further extend the delay of Libby's
court proceedings. The trial is already set to begin safely beyond
the mid-terms elections to allow Bush maneuvering room for his
strategists to decide when to pardon Libby, depending upon whether
the Democrats take over either branch of Congress.
But now, the Libby "defense team" is attempting to
buy even more time.
This allows for all sorts of disingenuous and dishonest posturing
in the meantime, like Cheney claiming he is considering "taking
the stand" in the trial to defend his "Scooter." Now,
there's a laugh riot of a lie. Cheney can sound innocent and honorable
because he knows that the trial will never occur in all likelihood,
because Cheney himself will write the Libby pardon if he has too.
But he won't, Rove will do it for him -- or they might let Libby
even pen his own.
By the way, on another front, to all those high-pitched Bushevik
one-party rule partisan shills who insinuate that Patrick Fitzgerald
is biased, they just need to read the Chicago papers.
Just this weekend, Fitzgerald released a legal communication
-- sent to the Illinois Attorney General (a Democrat) -- accusing
the office of the Illinois Governor, who is a Democrat, of widespread
hiring fraud and corruption. It was a wideranging and all encompassing
accusation that left little doubt that Governor Blagojevich (a
first-term Democrat) is implicated, although did not expressly
say that. (An important note: The Illinois Attorney General, Lisa
Madigan, is not being accused of any wrongdoing whatsoever. She
was sent the letter by Fitzpatrick to ensure that their separate
investigations into Blagojevich did not step on each other's toes.)
Meanwhile, Fitzgerald is up to his eyes in alligators investigating
the hiring and contracting practices of the office of the Mayor
of Chicago. That's as in Richard M. Daley, Democrat.
So, any notion that Fitzgerald is some sort of partisan U.S.
Attorney out to get Bush, Cheney and the GOP gang has been put
to rest permanently.
The guy is just a Boy Scout who prosecutes any political wrong
doing he believes seriously violates the law.
If Bush didn't have pardon power, Fitzgerald probably would put
the tsenior staff of the White House in jail, because most of them
are crooks.
That's not because Fitzgeraled is in anyway partisan. It's just
because he believes in applying the rule of law to Republican and
Democrat alike.
